Authorities in New Haven County received a report about a crash in Wolcott in the area of 969 Woodtick Road at about 5:45 a.m. on Monday, July 18, the Wolcott Police Department reported.
Police reported that a northbound vehicle had crossed into the southbound lane and struck a vehicle that was traveling south.
The driver of the northbound vehicle suffered critical injuries and died at the hospital, police said.
Authorities said the driver of the southbound vehicle was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the driver who died was male but did not release the ages or identities of either driver.
The crash is being investigated by the Naugatuck Valley Crash Investigation Team, police reported.
